]]> http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?feed=rss2&p=133 0 GETTING READY FOR OPENER AT CEDAR LAKE CAMP http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=131 http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=131#comments Wed, 16 May 2012 02:11:14 +0000 fishblog http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=131 The time is ticking away for completing projects & painting before guests arrive for the opening of walleye season on May 19th.  It has been dry & warm so we have been able to take advantage of the weather & get some painting done.  Ice out caused damage at the dock by the big unit so that took quite a bit of time to repair but it’s all set & ready for guests.  It’s hard to believe that some fishermen said they didn’t want to come for the opener because it is too cold.  The forecast is calling for 82 degrees on Saturday!  Of course, it will be cooler on the water but that is still pretty nice for May.  Still not much for rain but they are calling for a good shower on Friday.

We’re looking forward to having guests in camp & hearing all their fish tales.  Here we go for 2012!  Jerry & Ellie

]]> http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?feed=rss2&p=131 0 Loons Return to Cedar Lake http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=127 http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=127#comments Thu, 10 May 2012 12:26:09 +0000 fishblog http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=127 We arrived at camp on April 26th to find no snow, no ice.  Folks in the area say the ice was out on Cedar Lk on March 2th or 28th which is the earliest ever.  Not wanting to see the water to warm too soon, we weren’t happy to hear that but the weather has been cool ever since that early ice out so the water temp is slowly warming as we like to see it happen.  All in pretty good order over the winter but did have dock damage at the house dock with ice out.   Jerry has worked on it quite a bit &  it’s  just about in order. Of course, he had to have some help from his right hand man (woman).

The loons have returned to the bay & we are enjoying their calls.  On a sad note we found the remains of a deer by cabin #11 & haven’t seen any of our deer in the campground which is a given when we first arrive.  We think the wolves have taken out our “pet” deer.

This time of the year is “Hockey Night in Canada” so after a hard day of work we are taking in the Stanley Cup Playoffs while relaxing.  Opener is fast approaching so we’ll keep at it to have everything in order when our first guests arrive on May 19th.

]]> http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?feed=rss2&p=99 0 Trip home full of color http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=91 http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=91#comments Sun, 09 Oct 2011 17:51:09 +0000 fishblog http://cedarlakecamp.com/fishlog/?p=91 The 2011 season is over & we put the chain across the driveway.  The long trip back to Baraboo was especially lovely since we drove east to Thunder Bay & crossed at Pigeon River instead of our normal route through Int’l Falls.  The drive along Lk Superior was lovey but we weren’t the only ones wanting to take in the color along the shore.  All the motels along the way had “No Vacancy” signs so we thought we might have to drive all the way to Duluth to find a room but were able to get a room at the Grand Superior Lodge right on the shore.  We had a relaxing evening there & continued on home the next day.  Everything is unpacked & we’ll work on our year-end letter & mailing list as soon as we return from a trip to Sedona, AZ.  Our daughter & her fiancee are getting married there so we’ll play tourist & be there for the wedding as well.  We’re  so happy to be part of the start of their life together.
