OPENER 2011

It has finally arrived – our 14th season opener.  Guests came all excited to be back at Cedar Lake Camp & we were happy to see old friends once again.  It was a rainy day but we were happy to see that since it had been quite dry.  The weatherman called for T-storms on Sund but a cloudy day turned into a blue bird day with sun & temps in the mid-70′s.  The leaves are just popping on the trees & of course, dandelions have popped as well.  We saw rabbits eating dandelions tops & stems  so hope that they keep it up.  Our first cook-out of the season tomorrow so will bake bars tonight.  Off to Dryden

to pick up s

upplies.

Painting & mowing

What wonderful weather we’ve had for the first part of May.  The temps have been in the high 60′s & we even had high 70′s today.  It made for some great painting & staining weather for us.  The trees are starting to bud & we’ll have to take time to mow lawn tomorrow.  It looks like it will be a super opening week.  Jerry & Eric put out bouys last night when the lake was nice & calm.  We’ve had great reflections on the lake & tonight we have moon shining across the water.  Can it get any better than this?   Jerry & Ellie

ICE OUT!

It’s official!  The last of the ice is gone as of today.  A little wind, some sun & warmer temps did the trick.  The direction of wind at ice out time can cause problems for us if it comes in from the south.  Ice can build up on our end of the lake with a south wind and damage docks with the all the force behind it.  No such problems this year for which we are thankful.  Sunny & warm today (70).  Jerry & Ellie

Ice is going!!

We arrived at camp on April 29th to see Cedar Lake Camp still iced over.  It had started to thaw along shore but only about 6ft out.  We’ve had some sunny days & a little breeze so ice is looking very different.  The ice is dark colored now so we anticipate ice out within a week.  We always like to be here to see the ice go.  Each year tends to be different with direction of wind, etc.  A few ducks have found there way back to camp and a couple of loons.  Deer have been coming into the yard to eat grass after a long & hard winter.  Looking forward to having guests arrive for opening week May 21st.  Jerry & Ellie
